We are trying something new this year. We are going to be showing a live broadcast of the ceremony in our theater (PAC). The PAC is air-conditioned and has very comfortable seats. Depending on the weather, some people may prefer to watch the ceremony from there and see the graduate in person right after. Doors to the PAC will open at 3:30.

All seniors need to park on the gravel near the softball fields and carpooling or drop off is recommended. Seniors are allowed to bring a single car key only to the graduation ceremony. All phones, cameras, beach balls, etc., will be confiscated upon entry to the staging area and returned at the close of the ceremony.

Guest parking is extremely limited. Parking along Cafeteria Road will be closed to all vehicles except for those with handicapped placards. If you have an elderly or otherwise physically limited guest attending, you will be able to drop them off near the stadium but will then need to park outside. There will be a team of students offering chairs on the track to guests with limited mobility. Unfortunately, there is not enough room for entire parties to sit in this special section but one attendant will be able to stay.

Once you select your seats, it is recommended that at least one person stay with your seats at all times. We are expecting both sides of the stadium to be packed! Please limit balloons as they block the view of those above you. Noisemakers can block out the name of the next graduate so keep celebrations short! We want all graduates to have their moment of glory as they walk across the stage.

Please note that the gate entrance on Mendocino street will be closed and locked. All guests must enter through the school-side of the stadium. Smoking is never permitted on school property. We will do our best to make the ceremony a high-class event!

To help protect your children and others from whooping cough, a new California law now requires students to be vaccinated against whooping cough.

For the 2011-12 school year only, all students entering 7th through 12th grades will need proof of an adolescent whooping cough booster shot (Tdap) before starting school.

Thereafter, in future school years, only students entering 7th grade will need proof of an adolescent whooping cough booster shot (Tdap) before starting school.

By law, students who do not have proof of receiving a Tdap booster shot will not be able to start school until proof is provided to the school. (The tetanus-diphtheria booster shot, Td, will not meet the requirement.)

We want to make sure your child starts school on time. We urge you to:

1. Read the Frequently Asked Questions below.
2. Get your child’s Tdap shot now if your child hasn’t received it already.
   1. A large number of students need a Tdap shot between now and the start of school next year. Make an appointment with your child’s doctor or clinic for your child to get a Tdap booster shot now. Avoid the back-to-school rush.
3. Bring a COPY of the proof of immunization to your child’s school.
   • Most of our schools are not open or are on a reduced schedule in the summer. Bring a COPY of your child’s immunization to your child’s school as soon as possible.

Getting the adolescent whooping cough shot now will not only help protect your child against the ongoing threat of whooping cough but will also meet the new school requirement.
