Margaret Mason, English
"To paraphrase Aldous Huxley, we're at our best when in a state of maximum
activity and maximum relaxation at the same time," states Margaret Mason, a
UCSB graduate and literature and English teacher at Dos Pueblos High
School. Ms. Mason has been on Dos Pueblos' staff for twelve years. Her
favorite part about teaching is "watching young people get excited over
ideas, and discovering the power of their own minds." She also advises the
Vonnegut Conspiracy club and the Croquet Club, but when she is not educating
the young minds of America she is either: running, reading, cooking,
gardening; or, just hanging out with friends. Ms. Mason's favorite novel
The Wings of the Dove, by Henry James, because "it provides a remarkable
glimpse into human psychology." A hope that Ms. Mason has for her current
students and the next generation is that "they will be productive and
compassionate and lead very thoughtful lives."
