Bonnie Barber, Work Experience Education; ROP Guidance Advisor

Bonnie Barber has been the ROP Guidance Advisor at Dos Pueblos High School for 20 years. She has been the Work Experience Education coordinator for the last 10 years. When asked how she got into teaching, she replied, "From the 7th grade on, I always wanted to be a P.E. teacher and coach. And, that's what I did. My first teaching job was at Purdue University where I coached volleyball and taught physical education and health. My career plan took a different path after the birth of my 3 children." Earning her undergraduate degree from San Fernando Valley State College (now CSUN), Mrs. Barber went on to receive her Master's in Education at the University of Arizona. Her favorite part of teaching is working with the diverse personalities of her students, and figuring out the best way to teach her students. Mrs. Barber's proudest moments as a teacher are when students who are not enrolled in her class sit in and actually participate in the curriculum. Her philosophy in life is that everyone deserves to make mistakes and her hope is that the future generation will make good choices.
